Terms of Service

Version 1.1 — Effective June 8, 2026

These terms apply to all estimates, quotes, and work performed by Sailor Services. By signing or approving an estimate, the client agrees to these terms in full.

Scope of Services

Sailor Services provides handyman and minor home improvement work only. Sailor Services does not bid, contract for, or perform any single project with a total project value of $7,500 or more, including labor, materials, and any client-supplied materials. Work requiring a Louisiana contractor license, Home Improvement Registration, permit, or licensed trade — including electrical, plumbing, mechanical/HVAC, mold remediation, or structural work — is outside the scope of our services unless performed by a properly licensed party. If any requested or discovered work falls outside this scope, Sailor Services will stop the affected work and refer that portion to a properly licensed party.

Estimate Validity

Each estimate is valid for 14 days unless otherwise stated. Material pricing and availability are subject to change after the expiration date.

Payment

A 30% deposit, applied toward materials, mobilization, scheduling, and labor, is due before work begins for projects requiring advance material purchases or scheduling commitments. The deposit is partially refundable only to the extent it exceeds documented costs already incurred, including materials purchased, non-returnable or special-order materials, and labor already performed. If the client cancels after materials have been purchased or work has begun, those costs remain the client's responsibility. The remaining balance is due upon substantial completion and before Sailor Services' final departure from the property. Check, cash, Zelle, and credit cards are accepted. Credit-card payments are subject to a processing fee no greater than the actual transaction fee charged to Sailor Services by its payment processor. This fee will be disclosed before payment is accepted.

Late Payment and Collection

Balances not paid when due accrue interest at 1.5% per month (18% per year) or the maximum rate allowed by Louisiana law, whichever is less. If Sailor Services must pursue collection of any unpaid amount, the client is responsible for reasonable costs of collection, including court costs and attorney's fees, to the extent allowed by law. Sailor Services reserves all lien and privilege rights available under Louisiana law.

Scope and Changes

Each estimate covers only the itemized work listed in that estimate. Any additional work, material substitutions, or changes to specifications must be approved in a signed written change order before that additional work begins. Verbal agreements are not binding.

Hidden Damage

Estimates do not include hidden, concealed, or pre-existing conditions discovered after demolition or after work begins, including but not limited to wood rot, mold, termite damage, water damage, code deficiencies, or structural issues. If such conditions are discovered, Sailor Services will stop the affected work, document the condition, notify the client, and provide a separate estimate or change order. If a discovered condition would require licensed or registered work, require a permit, or raise the total project value to $7,500 or more, Sailor Services will refer that work to a properly licensed party rather than continue. No additional work will proceed without written client approval. Amounts due for the original approved scope remain payable for work completed.

Materials

Sailor Services will select standard materials using professional judgment unless the client provides written specifications before accepting the estimate. Client preferences requested after acceptance, whether verbal or written, may require a change order and do not justify withholding payment for completed work that conforms to the approved scope.

Access and Scheduling

The client is responsible for providing clear and safe access to the work area on all scheduled dates. Rescheduling requires at least 24 hours' notice when practical.

Permits and Licensed Work

Sailor Services does not pull permits in its own name and does not perform work requiring a permit, contractor license, Home Improvement Registration, or licensed trade unless that work is performed by a properly licensed party or Sailor Services has confirmed the work may legally be performed without such license, registration, or permit. If a project is found to require a permit, licensed trade, contractor license, or Home Improvement Registration, Sailor Services will stop the affected work, notify the client, and refer that work to a properly licensed party. Permit-driven, inspection-driven, or code-driven changes require a signed written change order before any affected work proceeds. The client is responsible for obtaining and paying for any required permits, inspections, and related fees.

Completion

The client will have an opportunity to inspect the completed work before final payment. Final payment confirms acceptance of the visible completed work, except for defects that could not reasonably be discovered at the time of inspection.

Governing Law and Venue

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of the parish where the work was performed — St. Tammany Parish or Orleans Parish, as applicable.
